Abstract
Fazlur Rahman, (1982: 157) secara tegas mengatakan, filsafat
merupakan alat intelektual yang terus menerus diperlukan. Untuk itu,
ia harus berkembang secara alamiah, baik untuk perkembangan filsafat
itu sendiri maupun untuk pengembangan disiplin-disiplin keilmuan yang
lain. Karena itu, orang yang menjauhi filsafat dapat dipastikan akan
mengalami kekurangan energi dan kelesuan darah – dalam arti
kekurangan ide-ide segar – dan lebih dari itu, ia berarti telah
melakukan bunuh diri intelektual. Di antra tokoh Islam yang
mengembangkan filsafat adalah Abid al-Jabiri, ia memformulasikan
bahwa epistemology filsafat Islam terdiri dari tiga bagian yaitu; bayani
burhani dan irfani. Dengan ketiga epistemology tersebut dapat
memetakan keilmuan yang terdapat dalam Islam. Dalam artikel ini
akan dibahas ketiga epistemology tersebut.
