Abstract

This community service aims to provide direct humanitarian assistance to the people of Sudan affected by armed conflict and a prolonged humanitarian crisis. The primary focus of the initiative is the provision of basic necessities such as food, clean water, healthcare, as well as psychosocial and educational support for children and refugee families in the regions of Port Sudan and Kasala. In addition to alleviating the burden of the victims, this service also seeks to raise international public awareness—particularly among Muslim-majority countries—about the humanitarian emergency unfolding in Sudan. The service methodology employs a direct, participatory approach in the field, involving observation, informal interviews, logistical distribution, and the implementation of the qurban (sacrificial meat distribution) program managed by Yayasan Mawar Pulau Pinang. Data were collected from field documentation, interactions with refugee communities, and information from local volunteer partners. The analysis was carried out using a descriptive-qualitative approach to portray the actual conditions and urgent needs of the affected population. The results of the service show that, despite limitations in resources and access, the program successfully delivered significant impact by meeting the immediate needs of refugees and rekindling a sense of hope and solidarity. In addition to aid distribution, this community service has also established a community-based social intervention model that can serve as a reference for similar initiatives in the future.
