Abstract
Ideally, religion functions as a source of meaning, a moral guide, and a fulfillment of human psychological needs amidst the changes of the times. However, the reality shows a shift in the role of religion in the modern era, particularly in developed countries experiencing secularization, while in developing countries, religion remains a central element of social identity. This study aims to explore the dynamics of religious psychology in addressing the spiritual, existential, and social needs of modern humans. The method used is a literature study with a qualitative approach, drawing on primary sources from works in the psychology of religion and secondary sources from journals and international research reports. The findings indicate that religion remains relevant as a psychological and social force, as long as it is understood in a moderate, contextual, and reflective manner to avoid distortions such as fanaticism and radicalism.
