Abstract

Islamic education is expected to unify rationality and spirituality to produce learners who are knowledgeable, virtuous, and grounded in transcendental values. In practice, education tends to be fragmented, with a dominance of pragmatic approaches that create an imbalance between cognitive and spiritual dimensions. This study aims to examine the philosophical foundations of integrating rationality and spirituality in Islamic philosophy, explore the Islamic epistemological framework as a basis for holistic education, and formulate an applicable integrative model for developing the Islamic education system. The study employs a qualitative approach with library research, utilizing classical and contemporary literature, journals, and relevant books. Analysis is conducted through reflective philosophical and content analysis to trace epistemological foundations and develop the integrative model. Findings indicate that the integration of rationality and spirituality based on revelation, reason, and experience forms a holistic educational framework. The integrative model includes a unified curriculum, wisdom-based management, participatory methods, and character- and academic-based evaluation, fostering the development of complete human beings capable of global competitiveness without losing their spiritual roots.
