Other villages, such as UleeTutue Village (0.44), Rambong Village (0.45), Gampong Lada Village (0.48), and Jojo Village (0.54) score quite well or can be considered for assistance using zakat funds.</p> <p><strong>Limitations</strong> – This study has limitations in terms of the relatively small number of research subjects, namely 9 villages.</p> <p><strong>Practical Implications</strong> – For academics, this research contributes new research results related to the zakat index which has rarely been carried out by previous researchers. As a practical implication, the results of this research can be used as a reference by the government, especially BAZNAS and Baitul Maal which are in Aceh. It is recommended that several programs include assisting village UKM groups to make local products competitive superior products, improve skills training for village youth and women, participate in building BUMDes and assistance to the community.</p> Azimah Dianah Cut Dian Fitri Zulfakar Zulfakar Copyright (c) 2023 ASNAF : Journal of economic welfare, philantrophy, zakat and waqf 2023-12-28 2023-12-28 106 124 10.32505/asnaf.v2i2.5808 The Impact of the covid-19 pandemic on the distribution process and the appropriate target of zakat funds in Baitul Mal, Aceh Tamiang regency https://journal.iainlangsa.ac.id/index.php/asnaf/article/view/7374 <p><strong>Abstract</strong></p> <p><strong>Purpose </strong><strong>–</strong> This research was conducted to determine how the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the distribution process and appropriate target of zakat funds in Baitul Mal Aceh Tamiang.</p> <p><strong>Method </strong>– In this study using a descriptive method with a qualitative approach with primary and secondary data. Data collection methods are used by observation, interviews, and documentation. The informants of this study were two people from Baitul Mal Aceh Tamiang and five respondents who had the status of mustahik in Baitul Mal Aceh Tamiang. Respondents were selected based on considerations. First, Baitul Mal leaders or employees. Second, mustahik who have received zakat are described as follows:</p> <p><strong>Results</strong> – The results of this study show that the distribution and appropriate of the target of zakat funds during the Covid-19 pandemic has many changes. Starting from changes in program planning, organizing that has changed the pattern of registration flow, the implementation of distribution has also changed by visiting the <em>mustahik</em> location directly and transferring via bank account, as well as supervision carried out before and after zakat funds are distributed. Lastly, the appropriate target during the Covid-19 pandemic remains well distributed even though Baitul Mal has not implemented a <em>muqayyad</em> (bound) zakat fund system and target appropriate during the Covid-19 pandemic has a broad view of which <em>mustahik</em> is entitled to receive it due to loss of income and other difficulties.</p> <p><strong>Practical Implications</strong> – As a practical implication, the results of this study can be used as a reference to improved comprehend how attitudes and regulations must be engaged to make all changes due to the pandemic.</p> Yana Athiyah Mutia Sumarni Copyright (c) 2023 ASNAF : Journal of economic welfare, philantrophy, zakat and waqf 2023-12-28 2023-12-28 125 147 10.32505/asnaf.v2i2.7374 The Role of the Baitul Mal amil agency in collecting professional zakat of civil servants in Aceh Tamiang regency https://journal.iainlangsa.ac.id/index.php/asnaf/article/view/7382 <p><strong>Purpose </strong><strong>&nbsp;–</strong> &nbsp;This research was conducted to determine the level of suitability and implementation of the collection of professional zakat funds for Civil Servants (ASN) in increasing muzzaki awareness.</p> <p><strong>Method</strong> – &nbsp;This research uses a descriptive method with a qualitative approach with primary and secondary data. Data collection methods used were observation, interviews and documentation. The informants for this research were two people from Baitul Mal Aceh Tamiang and the BPKD, while the respondents were three people who had the status of muzakki at Baitul Mal Aceh Tamiang.</p> <p><strong>Results</strong> – The results of the research show that the collection of professional zakat funds has not been fully effective because funds are collected through 2 ASN criteria, namely Active ASN and Passive ASN, there are still obstacles in Passive ASN which are still less aware of paying zakat, thus having a big impact in increasing awareness of muzakki paying zakat profession.</p> <p><strong>Practical Implication</strong> – As a practical implication, the results of this research can be used as a reference to better understand the attitudes and regulations that must be taken to create new policies.</p> Muhammad Fachrurrazy Maria Ulfa Copyright (c) 2023 ASNAF : Journal of economic welfare, philantrophy, zakat and waqf 2023-12-28 2023-12-28 148 169 10.32505/asnaf.v2i2.7382 The merger of three state owned shariah bank in Padangsidimpuan https://journal.iainlangsa.ac.id/index.php/asnaf/article/view/5745 <p><strong>Abstract</strong></p> <p><strong>Purpose - </strong>The objective of this study is to identify the positive and negative impacts of the merger of Islamic banks on the community or customers and employees of Islamic banks in Kota Padangsidimpuan.</p> <p><strong>Method - </strong>To address this issue, this study employed a qualitative descriptive method. Data collection for this study used the interview technique. This study involved 15 informants from the local community and 5 informants of bank employees<strong>.</strong></p> <p><strong>Results </strong><strong>- </strong>The merger of Islamic banks in Kota Padangsidimpuan brought both advantages and challenges for the community and bank employees. On the bright side, the merger expanded the reach of Islamic banking services, which projected there are more people could now access essential financial products and services like savings accounts, loans, and investments. This potentially boosted financial inclusion and economic activity in the city. The merger also enhanced job security for employees, by becoming part of a larger, state-owned enterprise like Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI), the employees gained stability and potential career advancement opportunities. However, there were also some shortcomings, the merger led to the limited access to physical banking infrastructure: The lack of new ATMs and branch offices following the merger might have inconvenienced some customers, especially those in remote areas. In addition, it adjusted the period for employees, which adapting to new systems and regulations after the merger could have been challenging for some employees, requiring additional training and support. Overall, the merger's impact was mixed. While it provided broader access to Islamic banking and job security for employees, it also highlighted the need for further expansion of physical banking infrastructure and support for employees during transitions. Addressing these challenges could help maximize the positive outcomes of the merger for the community and bank employees in Kota Padangsidimpuan.</p> <p><strong>Limitation – </strong>The generalizability of the findings may be limited due to the study's focus on a single merged Islamic bank in one city.</p> <p><strong>Practical Implicative - </strong>The consolidation of three Islamic banks marks a significant step in enhancing Sharia-compliant financial services. This merger has the potential to benefit both the community and the national economy. Where poperty in question is one of the problems of the Indonesian nation which is very important, especially when there is a sharing of condominiums such as the global crisis which mainly affects food and an energy crisis. One of the things wer can see is the bgigh price of oil which will have an impact on poperty, especially in Indonesian. The formulation of the problem in this study is how the role of zakat, infaq and sadakah as a solution in alleviating poverty. The purpose of this study is that we can find out how the role of zakat, infaq and sadakah in alleviating poverty Method – The type of research that the author uses is descriptive qualitative. While data collection from this research is by way of observation and interviews Results – The results of this study indicate that the existence of zakat, infaq and sadakah can be used as a solution in alleviating poverty and income inequality, it can be seen that the existence of productive zakat programs can help zakat recipients in improving their economy. Limitations – this research has limitations in terms of the number of research informants, further research can expand information from various regions who receive zakat, infaq and hadaqah through dhuafa wallets. Practical Implications – this research is a recommendation for government policy to develop programs through social institutions and zakat institutions in order to reduce poverty.</p> Muawanah Nur Dinah Fauziah Demila Akub Hambali Adi Zamick Copyright (c) 2023 ASNAF : Journal of economic welfare, philantrophy, zakat and waqf 2023-12-28 2023-12-28 187 199 10.32505/asnaf.v2i2.6892 Analysis of the effectiveness of the distribution of zakat funds in Baitul Mal of Langsa city https://journal.iainlangsa.ac.id/index.php/asnaf/article/view/7401 <p><strong>Abstract</strong></p> <p><strong>Purpose</strong> – This research was conducted to determine the level of effectiveness and implementation of the zakat fund distribution program in improving the welfare of mustahik.</p> <p><strong>Method</strong> – This research uses descriptive qualitative research. Respondents as informants in this study were 7 people and 1 person as a key figure. The data sources used in this research are primary data and secondary data consisting of observation, interviews, and documentation.The criteria for being used as informants are people who are members of Baitul Mal Langsa.</p> <p><strong>Results</strong> – The results showed that the distribution of zakat funds has been running effectively and the funds are channeled through 7 asnaf program criteria, namely AsnafFakir, Asnaf Miskin, Asnaf Muallaf, Asnaf Fiisabilillah, Asnaf Ibnu Sabil, AsnafGharim and Asnaf Amil, and have a big impact on suppressing the movements of moneylenders and increasing mustahik trust.</p> <p><strong>Limitations</strong> – This study was considered as a cause-and-effect study with a single observation object.</p> <p><strong>Practical Implications</strong> – This research shows the need for supervision in the distribution of zakat funds in Baitul Mal Kota Langsa so that the funds are channeled.</p> Zulkarnen Mora Zainatun Aini Copyright (c) 2023 ASNAF : Journal of economic welfare, philantrophy, zakat and waqf 2023-12-28 2023-12-28 200 216 10.32505/asnaf.v2i2.7401
