ISLAMISASI DI KUPULAUAN MELAYU NUSANTARA
STUDI TERHADAP ANALISIS FILSAFAT SEJARAH SYED MUHAMMAD NAQUIB AL-ATTAS

ABSTRAK
Tulisan ini menguak tentang pandangan Syed Muhammad Naquib Al-Attas terhadap bagaimana Islamisasi di Kepulauan Melayu Nusantara. Dalam ini Al-Attas melakukan studi kritis terhadap sarjana Barat yang cenderung mempersempit peranan Islam, dan sebaliknya menonjolkan signifikansi Hinduisme dan Buddhisme dalam sejarah dan kebudayaan Islam di Melayu Nusantara. Para sarjana Barat tersebut lebih mengunggulkan Hindu-Buddha sebagai agama yang sangat berpengaruh di dunia Melayu Nusantara dibandingkan pengaruh Islam. Argumentasi para sarjana tersebut terkesan sangat melemahkan peranan Islam sebagai agama terbesar yang dianut oleh masyarakat Nusantara selama berabad-abad. Beberapa sarjana Barat yang akan diklarifikasi pandanganya oleh al-Attas adalah Van Leur, Schrike, Snouck Hurgronje, dan Winstedt. Perlu ditegaskan di sini bahwa Islamisasi merupakan sebuah teori yang digagas oleh al-Attas untuk mempertegas pengaruh Islam di Kepulauan Melayu Nusantara melalui konsep metafisika sufisme.

ABSTACT
This paper discusses the outlook Syed Muhammad Naquib Al-Attas of the Islamization of the Malay Archipelago. Al-Attas argue that most Western scholars tend to narrow the role of Islam, and instead highlight the significance of Hinduism and Buddhism in the history and culture of the Malays. Western scholars are more favor Hindu-Buddhism as a religion is very influential in the world than the Malay Archipelago Islamic influence. This view was impressed greatly weaken the role of Islam as a religion that is embraced by the community's largest archipelago for centuries. Some Western scholars that the consideration to be clarified by al-Attas was Van Leur, Schrike, Snouck, and Winstedt. It should be emphasized here that Islamization is a theory that was initiated by al-Attas to reinforce the influence of Islam with metafisic of slamic sufism in Malay Archipelago.
