YASIN VERSE 68 https://journal.iainlangsa.ac.id/index.php/tibyan/article/view/10760
This study delves into the concept of nunakkishu in Q.S. Yasin verse 68, which reflects the cyclical nature of human life, from the vulnerability of infancy, the strength of adulthood, to the eventual return to a weakened state in old age. By integrating Quranic exegesis with contemporary scientific perspectives on aging, cognitive decline, and Erik Erikson's psychosocial development theory, this research provides a comprehensive understanding of biological and psychological regression in later life. Utilizing a qualitative library research method, the study examines classical and contemporary interpretations of the verse alongside modern findings on aging. The results reveal that the term nunakkishu embodies not only the physical and cognitive transformations of aging but also serves as a profound reminder of human dependence on the Creator. Furthermore, it underscores the ethical and social dimensions of caregiving for the elderly, rooted in the Quranic values of compassion, respect, and social responsibility. This study contributes to a deeper understanding of life's cycles, offering recommendations to foster empathy and holistic care for the elderly, encompassing their spiritual, physical, and psychological needs.
Qomariah Nur Mujahidah Ahmad Nurrohim Copyright (c) 2025 Qomariah Nur Mujahidah https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2025-05-02 2025-05-02 10 1 1 15 10.32505/at-tibyan.v10i1.10760 THE POLITICS OF QIRA’AT: STATE POWER AND THE CANONIZATION OF QUR’ANIC RECITATION IN EARLY ISLAM https://journal.iainlangsa.ac.id/index.php/tibyan/article/view/11344
The study of qira’at in Islam has traditionally centered on linguistic and phonetic dimensions. However, it also intersects significantly with the dynamics of political authority and canon formation in Islamic history. Using a historical-analytical approach, this study examines the role of political power in the codification and standardization of qira’at, focusing on critical episodes such as the compilation of the mushaf under Caliph ‘Uthman ibn ‘Affan, administrative interventions during the Umayyad dynasty, and the canonization of the seven qira’at by Ibn Mujahid, later expanded to ten by Ibn al-Jazari. Drawing on classical Islamic sources and contemporary academic literature, the study demonstrates that qira’at orthodoxy was shaped not only by scholarly consensus, but also by strategic political interventions in response to socio-political imperatives. By exploring the intersection of religion, power, and the construction of Qur’anic recitational authority, this research contributes to a deeper understanding of how the political construction of religious orthodoxy and the canonization of sacred texts in Islam.
Siti Khodijah Iffah Muzammil Moch. Using the approach of tafsir studies and cultural context, this research aims to explain the meaning and significance of the term, as well as identify how the understanding of the term Dewata Séuwa’e is reflected in Daud Ismail's interpretation of his tafsir. This research uses the theory of vernacularization popularized by Anthony H. Johns by understanding the linguistic elements and cultural praxis contained in Tafsir al-Munir, especially the verses that contain the term Dewata Séuwa’e,as well as a contextual approach to understand how the concept relates to the cultural context of Bugis society. Through an in-depth analysis of Daud Ismail's interpretation, this study seeks to gain a comprehensive understanding of how the term Dewata Séuwa’e is interpreted in Tafsir al-Munir and the religious context of Bugis society before and after the advent of Islam. The results of this study are expected to contribute to further understanding of Bugis religious heritage, especially in the scientific field of Qu r'anic interpretation.
Annisa Fitra Copyright (c) 2025 Annisa Fitra https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2025-06-28 2025-06-28 10 1 37 53 10.32505/at-tibyan.v10i1.8466 NICOLAI SINAI’S HISTORICAL-CRITICAL APPROACH TO THE QUR’AN: A CRITICAL STUDY OF LITERARY COHERENCE, CHRONOLOGY, AND INTERTEXTUALITY https://journal.iainlangsa.ac.id/index.php/tibyan/article/view/11367
This article examines the historical-critical approach developed by Nicolai Sinai in Quranic studies. The main focus includes three methodological dimensions: literary coherence and secondary revision, inner-Qur’anic chronology, and intertextuality. Through a qualitative library research method, this study explores how Sinai's approach offers an empirical and systematic alternative to traditional and earlier Western historical-critical methods that are often accused of undermining Islamic orthodoxy. Sinai’s contribution fills a significant gap in contemporary Qur’anic hermeneutics by bridging classical Islamic interpretive traditions and modern critical methodologies. His framework offers a more nuanced and respectful engagement with the Qur’anic text, avoiding reductionist tendencies while encouraging deeper philological and literary analysis. The study reveals how Sinai’s moderate historical-critical model, grounded in textual data, can enrich both Western and Islamic scholarship in understanding the historical development, structure, and intertextual dialogue of the Qur’an.
Asyiq Billah Ali Maulida Fitri Fi Ardillah Huda Binti Mohd Fadzil Fejrian Yazdajird Iwanebel Copyright (c) 2025 Asyiq Billah Ali; Maulida Fitri Fi Ardillah, Huda Binti Mohd Fadzil, Fejrian Yazdajird Iwanebel (Author) https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2025-06-29 2025-06-29 10 1 54 83 10.32505/at-tibyan.v10i1.11367 BODY SHAMING IN THE QUR’AN: A HUMANISTIC PSYCHOLOGY APPROACH TO HUMANISTIC RESILIENCE https://journal.iainlangsa.ac.id/index.php/tibyan/article/view/8841
Since the modification of social communication into digital communication, there has been subordinative social aggression through the crime of body shaming which causes psychological and mental impacts to self-harm or suicide. Degrading and racist acts are intimidative social treatments that are not legally justified, especially in religion. The problem of this research focuses on how the conceptual framework of human resilience as an effort to prevent the crime of psychological body shaming in the Qur'an. Toshihiko Isutzu's method of structural maudu>'i interpretation was used to look at the conceptual and comprehensive framework of key terms with the help of Abraham Harold Maslow's humanistic psychological analysis theory. This study aims to explain the structure of the term body shaming in the Qur'an, the characteristics of the value of body shaming crimes in the Qur'an, and how positive psychological contribution as a concept of self-resilience from the crime of body shaming. Replying to the above formulation, the research produced findings, namely first, the structure of the term about the crime of body shaming in the Qur'an includes three key terms, istahza'a, Sakhara, and Talmizu. Second, the characteristics of negative body shaming values in the Qur'an are explained the prohibition image and identity of personal, social, and group (person-centered), prohibition of opening disgrace and denouncing others (safety and security needs). Third, the urgency of personality education and confidence in self-acceptance as well as understanding differences and wisely communicating by prioritizing appreciation for others (at Tasa>muh} baina diya>nah wa insa>niyyah).
ubaidillah Siti Nurul Kholifah Siti Marpuah Copyright (c) 2025 ubaidillah, Siti Nurul Kholifah, Siti Marpuah https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2025-06-29 2025-06-29 10 1 84 106 10.32505/at-tibyan.v10i1.8841 ANALYZING THE CONNECTION BETWEEN WRITING TOOLS AND ETHICS IN THE QUR'AN https://journal.iainlangsa.ac.id/index.php/tibyan/article/view/11249
This study examines the relationship between writing tools and ethical values as articulated in the Qur'an, emphasizing the underlying spiritual and moral dimensions. Writing tools are not merely physical instruments for recording ideas but hold symbolic significance tied to human moral and spiritual responsibility. This research employs a Sufi approach and the theory of mun?sabah (thematic coherence of verses) as interpreted by Fakhruddin Ar-Razi and Quraish Shihab to explore how the Qur'an perceives the act of writing. The findings reveal that the Qur'an elevates the significance of writing tools as symbols of trust, honesty, and piety, playing a crucial role in shaping individual and societal ethics. This study offers new insights into integrating spiritual values into literacy practices, transforming writing into not only an intellectual activity but also a means of ethical reflection and character development.
Sayed Fitri Adhi Muzakkir Safria Andy Copyright (c) 2025 Sayed Fitri Adhi, Muzakkir, Safria Andy https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2025-06-29 2025-06-29 10 1 10.32505/at-tibyan.v10i1.11249 EXPLORING THE CONCEPT OF QASHASH IN T.M. Surah Al-Baqarah verse 30 and verses 275-279 are ethical theological foundations in building governance that is fair, sustainable, and free from economic injustice. The Qur'anic approach to human development is not only normative but also provides practical solutions. The prohibition of usury, the recommendation of zakat, infaq, sadaqah, and human responsibility as khalifah are integral mechanisms to create inclusive and sustainable development. Therefore, this study aims to examine the relationship between the values contained in Surah Al-Baqarah verses 30 and 275-279 with the goals of SDGs by using a thematic interpretation approach. The results show that achieving the SDGs requires the integration of spiritual values, as taught in the Qur'an, to complement technical and economic approaches. Therefore, the Qur'an can be the main reference in addressing various global issues through a holistic approach that incorporates ethics.
Nurma Sari Akmal Tarigan Rahmi Syahriza Cut Fauziah Copyright (c) 2025 Nurma Sari, Akmal Tarigan, Rahmi Syahriza, Cut Fauziah https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2025-06-29 2025-06-29 10 1 10.32505/at-tibyan.v10i1.10846 REVISITING TATHAYYUR: A DIALOGUE BETWEEN TRADITION AND CONTEXT IN TAFSIR AL-MISHBAH THROUGH GADAMER’S HERMENEUTICS https://journal.iainlangsa.ac.id/index.php/tibyan/article/view/11851
This study aims to explore the conceptualization of tathayyur in Muhammad Quraish Shihab's Tafsir Al-Mishbah through Gadamer's hermeneutical approach. Tathayyur refers to the belief in bad omens associated with natural phenomena or bird behavior, a tradition rooted in pre-Islamic Arab society and persisting in various forms in contemporary contexts. Employing Gadamer’s fusion of horizons theory, this research analyzes how Tafsir Al-Mishbah bridges the historical meanings of Quranic verses with modern life contexts. The findings reveal that tathayyur is identified as a minor form of polytheism, contradicting the principles of tawhid. Moreover, Tafsir Al-Mishbah encourages readers to reflect on tawhidi values in daily life as a means to overcome superstitious tendencies that disrupt social and spiritual harmony. This study highlights the relevance of Gadamer's hermeneutical approach in Qur’anic studies by emphasizing the dialogue between text, reader, and context to achieve a more comprehensive and meaningful understanding of traditional beliefs.
Mar’atul Insanissa’adah Ahmad Zuhri Copyright (c) 2025 Mar’atul Insanissa’adah; Ahmad Zuhri (Author) https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2025-06-29 2025-06-29 10 1 10.32505/at-tibyan.v10i1.11851
