Abstract

The implementation of Aceh Qanun No. 8 of 2016 on the Halal Product Assurance System faces a gap between ideality and reality, particularly in Langsa City, where many products lack halal certification. This study aims to analyze the factors influencing the implementation of the qanun and assess its success in ensuring the halalness of products in Aceh. A qualitative approach was used, with interviews of business owners and market surveillance in Langsa City. The findings reveal that despite the qanun being established, the lack of understanding among business owners regarding the importance of halal certification, as well as cost and procedural barriers, remain major challenges in its implementation. This study suggests the need for enhanced socialization, coaching, and stricter supervision by the Aceh government to ensure the successful implementation of the halal product assurance system in society.
