Author Guidelines
Submitting a draft article to the Jurisprudensi Journal involves several stages, including the following:
Registration
Registration is the initial step for authors, which can be found at the top right corner of the OJS platform. Registration requires the user's email and author affiliation details. If there is more than one author, additional contributors should be added in the 'add contributor' section during the metadata stage.
Prepare the Article Draft
Before submitting an article to the Jurisprudence Journal, authors must prepare a draft in Microsoft Word or a similar format. Draft preparation begins by downloading the journal template provided on the OJS page. The content of the draft must follow the template as the foundation of the manuscript and align with the guidelines in the journal template. The template covers several aspects, but the most important points are:
- The manuscript should be between 5,000 and 8,000 words.
- The draft structure should include an introduction (background), literature review, writing methodology, content, conclusion, and references.
- The citation system must use Mendeley or Zotero, following APA Style 7th edition.
Submission Process
Once the article draft is complete, the author can proceed with the submission process in the OJS of the Jurisprudence Journal. During submission, authors will be guided to check off the required administrative conditions. Authors must complete any fields marked with an asterisk, while unmarked fields can be skipped. During submission, authors may be asked to attach supporting data (if applicable), such as research drafts if the article is an output of a thesis, dissertation, or other research work. After this stage is complete, the author must wait for further information from the journal (via OJS) regarding acceptance or rejection of the article.
Focus and Scope Suitability
Once the article is submitted to the Jurisprudence Journal's OJS, the journal management will select articles based on the title and theme. If the title is considered outside the focus and scope, it will be rejected. If the title aligns or touches on sub-themes, it will proceed to the next stage. Authors' names and affiliations should avoid double submissions within the same year, even if listed as a second or subsequent author.
Plagiarism Check
After the author submits the article to the Jurisprudence Journal, the journal management will check the manuscript for plagiarism. Plagiarism checks are done using Turnitin, with a maximum similarity tolerance of 25%. For authors from Indonesia submitting in English, plagiarism checks are also conducted on the Indonesian version of the manuscript, which must be attached. If the manuscript exceeds the allowed similarity percentage, it will be rejected by the journal management team.
Review Process
After the draft passes the plagiarism check, it moves on to content evaluation. This process has three stages:
- Writing according to the template. If the article is not written using the Jurisprudence template, it will be returned or rejected, indicating the author's lack of readiness.
- The methodology review. This stage ensures that the applied methods align with the template's instructions.
- The substantive review. The article's quality will be evaluated by experts in the relevant field. Both the methodology and substantive reviewers will provide feedback for revisions (minor or major) to the author. Reviewers may reject the article if it does not meet the standards.
Revision Stage by the Author
After receiving revision notes from the reviewers, the journal management will forward them to the author for revision within the given time frame. The revision period varies, usually between 1 to 3 months. If the deadline is exceeded, the article will be rejected. Once the author completes the revisions, they resubmit it to the Jurisprudence Journal OJS through the revision or discussion section. If the revisions meet the reviewers' requests, the draft will move on to the next stage.
Copyediting
Copyediting is the stage where the draft article has been accepted by the Jurisprudence Journal. The journal management will edit the content to ensure it follows the layout and structural format of the journal. Translation may also occur at this stage if necessary.
Publication
Once copyediting is complete, the journal management typically requests a publication fee, as indicated in the 'author fee' section. After the author makes the payment, the article will be processed, and a Letter of Acceptance (LoA) will be issued. The publication is conducted according to the scheduled release dates (issue 1 or issue 2) within the predetermined time frame.
