Abstract

Learning Aqidah Akhlak at MTs Ulumul Qur'an Langsa does not involve students in learning. Higher-order thinking skills have not yet been explored. Learning is almost always teacher-centered. This study aims to determine the effect and process of the Video-based Discovery Learning method on students' HOTS (Higher Order Thinking Skills) abilities. The research method used in this study was a pre-experimental design with the form of a One-Group Pretest-Posttes Design. The population in this study were students of class VIII MTs Ulumul Qur'an Langsa. The sample in this study was class VIII-Ummu Salamah which was taken using a purposive sampling technique. The data collection technique used is test and observation. Data analysis used is t-test. The results of the study concluded that there was a positive effect of the Video-based Discovery Learning method on HOTS (Higher Order Thinking Skills) abilities. The learning process using the Video-based Discovery Learning method can affect HOTS (Higher Order Thinking Skills) abilities in class VIII students of MTs Ulumul Qur'an Langsa.
