Publication Ethics
JUIP: Journal of Ushuluddin and Islamic Philosophy is a journal published by the Faculty of Ushuluddin, Adab, and Da’wah, IAIN Langsa. This statement outlines the ethical responsibilities of all parties involved in the publication of articles in this journal, including the authors, editor-in-chief, editors, peer reviewers, and publisher.
Publisher's Responsibilities
The Faculty of Ushuluddin, Adab, and Da’wah, IAIN Langsa, as the publisher of JUIP: Journal of Ushuluddin and Islamic Philosophy, is responsible for and committed to ensuring that advertising, reprints, or other commercial revenues do not affect or influence the editor's decisions.
Editors' Responsibilities
Publication Decisions
The editors of JUIP: Journal of Ushuluddin and Islamic Philosophy are responsible for deciding which articles should be published based on the input from reviews conducted by peer reviewers. Editors may consult with peer reviewers when making these decisions.
Principles of Fairness
Editors evaluate manuscripts based on their intellectual content, regardless of the author's race, gender, sexual orientation, religious beliefs, ethnic origin, nationality, or political philosophy.
Editors will ensure that submitted articles align with the focus and scope of the journal. The response from peer reviewers serves as the basis for editors to determine whether an article will be accepted, accepted with major or minor revisions, or rejected.
An article may be rejected for several reasons, including:
- It does not align with the journal’s scope,
- The scientific quality of the writing is insufficient to be classified as scholarly work,
- Fundamental methodological errors, or
- The author refuses to make the revisions suggested by peer reviewers without a valid reason.
The publication schedule follows the order in which manuscripts and their revisions are submitted to the editorial board.
Confidentiality
Editors must not disclose any information about a submitted manuscript to anyone other than the author and peer reviewers.
Conflicts of Interest
Unpublished material disclosed in a submitted manuscript must not be used in an editor’s own research without the author’s written consent.
Peer Reviewers' Responsibilities
- Peer reviewers assist editors in making editorial decisions and provide feedback to authors through editorial communication. Their role includes content evaluation of submitted manuscripts.
- All manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents. Manuscripts may not be shared or discussed with others unless permitted by the editor.
- Reviews must be conducted objectively, with supporting arguments based on scientific principles.
Authors' Responsibilities
- Authors must write articles based on accurate and original research.
- Authors must properly cite all references according to scientific writing standards.
- Authors must ensure that their manuscripts are free from plagiarism.
- Authors must confirm that the manuscript submitted to JUIP: Journal of Ushuluddin and Islamic Philosophy has not been published elsewhere and is not under consideration by another journal.
- Authors must agree on the roles of each contributor in writing the article and have a prior agreement regarding the designation of the main author and co-authors.
- Authors must ensure that their research activities comply with ethical standards.
- If an author discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in a published work, they must immediately notify the journal editor or publisher and cooperate with the editor to correct or retract the paper.
